Research and Planning - Final Design Sketches

These are my final designs I have drew which I want to implement onto Phtotshop. I have changed a few things from my initial sketches, such as the placement of the quote on the doublepage spread.
Any colour added is there only to represent where some of the colour will be shown. I have only highlighted the key areas for colour, such as the yellow box around the text onthe contents age. The idea of this was to show the font will be that colour.

Research and Plannning - Initial Sketches

These are my initial sketches of my music magazine. I drew thee as a sketch to put down my idea. My final design could bea lot different from these, or even the same.

Research and Planning - Evaluation of College Magazine

College Magazine Completed
My actual magazine was improved via the input from the questions I had asked my target audience. I was able to see what was needed, which was more cover lines and a bit more colour.
Overall, in terms of the colours used I was quite happy. I stuck with the '3 colour rule' by using blue, red and white. though, in the form of an explosion I was able to add more colours to help m front cover stand out and seem more attractive. The actual explosion itself helped my plug stand out more too.
My main image is good too as it promotes a happy life on campus with the student's bright smile. The student badge is clear and visible too to ensure that the potential audience know it's a college magazine.
There is a nice amount of space on the right where I positioned the cover lines, without the image intruding. The switch between colours from each cover story title is unique too and it improves any dullness and shows college is fun and exciting, yet not manic.

Research and Planning - College Magazine Completed

After listening to the comments made on my interviews, I added additional cover stories and more colour in the form of the explosion. The explosion and its colour highlighted the plug. It brings more diversity to the cover itself.

Research and Planning - College Magazine Drawing

This is the drawing I made of what I wontedly college magazine to look like.

Research and Planning - College Magazine Example

This is a college magazine, aimed at college students and undergraduates in America. I know this because of a few reasons: the title which literally reads 'COLLEGE'; the main image portraying a man who is of a similar looking age to a college students, with him holding books for studying. The cover lines a referring to college life, such as 'MAKE MONEY ON CAMPUS'.

Research and Planning - InDesign Tutorial/ FIlm review

I used InDesign to produce this review article of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I imported a review for the Empire website and found an image from the web. I added a title and changed the colour of the background. I also added columns and margins to prevent the lines from touching the edge of the page ; this is so if any problems occur in printing, it won't affect the text.

The reason for me using this software is because I will be producing my college contents page on there.

Research and Planning - Font Mastheads

These are 3 different fonts for 3 different magazines of different genres: pop music, film and heavy metal. I found these fonts on the website 'DaFont'.

Research and PLanning - Film Psoter

This is the film poster from The Wolverine, with Hugh Jackson. There is also a LEGO head on a white background below.
I used Photoshop to cut out the head from its background and placed it over Hugh Jackson's head. I used the 'magic wand' tool to do this, which drew a boarder around the head to allow me to delete the background.
